New On HBO Max In June 2023: Avatar: The Way Of Water, Painting With John Season 3

As June approaches, Max is gearing up to roll out new TV shows and movies. This marks the first full month since HBO rebranded as Max, bringing subscribers an abundance of fresh content under a new banner. Starting from June 1, viewers can anticipate a lineup of titles set to debut throughout the month, offering a wide variety of entertainment choices to enjoy.

Avatar: The Way of Water comes to Max on June 7. (As previously reported, the sequel will be coming to both Disney+ and Max on the same day.) Set more than a decade after the events of the original film, the sequel revolves around the Sully family–Jake, Neytiri, and their children. The film delves into their challenges, their efforts to protect each other, the battles they face for survival, and the tragedies they endure. Against the seascapes of Pandora, audiences are introduced to new Na’vi cultures, and a diverse range of extraordinary sea creatures. The movie made considerable waves after coming out last year–check out our roundup of critical opinions, and GameSpot’s own review.

On June 2, for something completely different, Painting with John is set to come back for Season 3. The show is a mesmerizing blend of “meditative tutorials” and “fireside chats” while Lurie “shares his reflections on what he’s learned about life.” Even if you aren’t familiar with Lurie, or particularly interested in art and storytelling, the show is too strange to pass up.
