New Exorcist Sequel: Ellen Burstyn Revives Iconic Role In Tense, Disturbing New Trailer

Universal Studios has unveiled the long-awaited trailer for The Exorcist: Believer, a sequel to the iconic horror classic The Exorcist that came out half a century ago. The new installment, directed by David Gordon Green, features Ellen Burstyn reprising her role as Chris MacNeil, the character she portrayed in the original 1973 film.

The trailer centers on two young girls who become possessed after a mysterious kidnapping attempt. Burstyn’s character, MacNeil, arrives to offer her assistance, drawing from her own experience with a possessed daughter. However, the trailer leaves viewers in suspense, uncertain if she can truly save the girls, who are covered in ominous Satanic markings and display disturbing behavior, such as devouring pages of the Bible.

The official logline for the film reveals that the story revolves around Victor Fielding, portrayed by Leslie Odom Jr., who has raised his daughter Angela (Lidya Jewett) alone since the tragic death of his pregnant wife. When Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) disappear in the woods only to return with no memory of their ordeal, Victor seeks help from Chris MacNeil, the sole witness to such evil occurrences.
