A Proper Metro Exodus Sequel Will Be Released “When It’s Ready”

Metro will be getting an non-VR title in the future, though exactly when is still unknown. The official Metro Twitter/X account celebrated Metro Exodus’s fifth anniversary with a franchise timeline. The tweet also says the next mainline game in the franchise will release “when it is ready.”

The timeline displays the release years of every game in the series on a subway-like map. After Metro Awakening VR, there is another dot adorned with a year marker, but with the final digit obscured. So you can be assured that another Metro game is on the way this decade.

Metro Exodus turns 5 years old today, and has now sold over 10 Million copies.
