Are you preparing to face all the Z-A Royale trainers in Pokemon Legends: Z-A? The main objective in the campaign is to defeat your opponents as you slowly increase your placement in the rankings. Of course, your rivals also have their own teams that consist of powerful creatures, so it’s a good idea to know their weaknesses. Our guide has all the details for you, but be forewarned that there are spoilers ahead.
All Z-A Royale trainers in Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Opposing trainers and Pokemon teams guide
You spend most of the campaign following this core gameplay loop:
- Face generic/unnamed trainers in Battle Zones to gain points and prize money.
- Upon reaching the required number of points, you’ll receive an event ticket.
- The ticket allows you to challenge a rival trainer to earn a promotion to the next rank.
- Later in the game, the last Pokemon that your foes will bring out can activate Mega Evolutions to make them stronger.
Note 1: After defeating a Pokemon, you can quickly switch to another member of your team. This is to anticipate the next enemy so you can field a creature that has an advantage.
Note 2: We encourage you to catch the best-early game Pokemon so you can have a well-rounded party.

Note: This segment of the campaign might feel like a slog. That’s because you have to duke it out against all the Z-A Royale trainers in Pokemon Legends: Z-A that you’ve beaten beforehand–i.e. Vinnie, Canari, Ivor, and Corbeau. There’s also another bout that follows soon thereafter, which then leads to the fight against Jacinthe’s team.
In any case, that does it for our guide on how to beat the Z-A Royale trainers in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. We’ll update this guide soon, so stay tuned. For now, we suggest unlocking more Mega Evolutions so you can keep up with your rival battlers.
You don’t need to face the challenges in Lumiose City all by your lonesome. We’ve got a Pokemon Legends: Z-A guides hub to help you go from the bottom to the very top of the rankings.
