Ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 release on October 25, Activision has revealed new information about the game’s Zombies mode. This includes a deep-dive into all the main points of interest for both maps, updates to the HUD, map changes for Liberty Falls, and more.
Terminus and Liberty Falls are two brand-new Zombies maps arriving at launch, and both will feature their own storyline Easter egg quests. Since the reveal of these two maps, Treyarch has worked to make improvements prior to launch, which includes HUD changes and map updates to Liberty Falls.
Following the map reveal at Call of Duty: Next, Liberty Falls was met with some community criticism, expressing that the map’s design looked and felt too casual, lacking a darker, more-traditional Zombies atmosphere.
The images shared below include the updated look of the map, as Treyarch has worked to improve on the look, feel, and sound of Liberty Falls, which the developer says is meant to “crank up the map’s creepiness factor.”
Players should now notice a moodier visual tone to the map, which comes along with gorier set dressings and new environmental audio. Treyarch says this is altered to more intensely reflect the chaos of a very recent dimensional breach of Zombies.
Treyarch says additional atmospheric elements related to the map’s story quest will also be present throughout Liberty Falls, as players begin to solve the mysteries waiting for them. A brand-new Easter egg song from composer Kevin Sherwood is also teased for the map.
In regards to the HUD improvements, there are now visibility sliders for players to customize additional HUD elements, color changes, and the addition of character portraits.
All of the map images can be found below.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releases on October 25 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Here is everything announced for Black Ops 6 Zombies. Call of Duty is getting a UI overhaul next week, and here’s everything you need to know about the UI changes.
Terminus Falls – Cells and Guard Station
Terminus Falls is a prison set on a remote island. At the top of the prison sits a series of holding cells, which is where Black Ops Cold War’s Requiem crew have been held captive for the last half decade.
Adjacent is the Guard Station POI. This is where Peck and Strauss (characters who serve as guidance to the playable crew) have barricaded themselves. There’s also a lower interrogation room.
Terminus – Security Overlook and Control Center
The guard tower leads to the prison’s two-level control center with monitor banks. This is the map’s Security Overlook and Control Center point-of-interest.
Terminus – Living Quarters, Storage, and Mess Hall
The images for the map’s Living Quarters, Storage, and Mess Hall showcase perk machines and a pool table.
Terminus – Sea Tower
Just outside of the main prison is Sea Tower. This location includes an octagon-shaped tower and a Dark Aether Reactor to explore. Players can navigate the top and bottom portions of the tower with an ascender.
Terminus – Gun Battery Platform
The Gun Battery Platform point-of-interest is a vintage WWII gun emplacement that rests atop a thick concrete platform, which is teased as being seemingly modified in recent years as “part of an unusual experiment.”
Terminus – Sea Caves and Mining Tunnels
Terminus is a massive map. Players will be able to explore the outer areas of the island prison, including a pair of subterranean tunnels. One tunnel is described as naturally-occurring and the other is man-made.
Terminus – Bio Lab
The Bio Lab is described as a large sea cave that has been completely hollowed out, and a large-scale secret research facility has been constructed within its cavern walls. The area includes multi-level walkways and what appears to be an experimentation chamber.
Terminus – Inclined Lift and Maglev Elevator
Players can exit the Bio Lab with Inclined Lift that periodically lifts up to the top floor behind the Living Quarters. Further beyond the Bio Lab is also an operational Maglev Elevator.
Terminus – Shipwreck
Terminus includes rafts that players can use to navigate the island. This includes taking a visit to the remains of a wrecked shipping tanker. It doesn’t seem like the full ship can be explored, but the main deck is mentioned as being accessible.
Terminus – The Outer Islands
The rafts will also let players explore a series of small islands located around the prison. Heading northwest will take players to Temple Island, which is described as a place with “odd pillar-like carvings.”
Heading east will lead to Castle Rock Island, which Is said to be named after the natural stone edifice jutting from the tidal sands that appears to be an old fortification.
The largest of the three islands is Crab Island, where Project Janus disposal crews would discard the remains of their science team’s “unwholesome experiments.”
Treyarch also teases a monster in the water around the main island, which is said to attack “if players stay outside of the confines of the prison for too long.”
Liberty Falls – Pump and Pay
The starting location for Liberty Falls is the rooftop of the Pump and Pay gas station. Zombies can reach players here, so it’s necessary to jump down and explore to earn better gear.
Liberty Falls – Motor Lodge
Liberty Falls is a much smaller map than Terminus. This takes place in a small town, which is obviously overrun with zombies.
Right next to the gas station is the Rest E-Z Motor Lodge. Zombies will pour out of the top and bottom levels to attack players.
Liberty Falls – Olly’s Comics
The town’s comic book shop is still stocked with whatever comics are left in the apocalypse. But the main highlight is the statue of a fictional hero called Aetherella. During our early-playthrough at Call of Duty: Next, we discovered this serves as a trap players can use against zombies. Points can be used to activate the superhero’s laser eyes, which will fire a beam of energy to eliminate zombies for a set amount of time.
Liberty Falls – Fuller’s Liberty Lanes
Players will also want to explore the town’s old-fashioned bowling alley. Liberty Lanes design includes a snack bar, a small arcade, and plenty of the undead.
Liberty Falls – Savings & Loan
The Bank of Liberty Falls is a centrally-located point-of-interest on the map. Players can explore the inside of the bank, which was barricaded and partially-preserved from the outbreak.
Liberty Falls – Holy Falls Church
The church of Liberty Falls is a neo-gothic design. Holy Falls is located on a plateau at the highest point in town, and the interior includes a dimensional anomaly that’s worth exploring.
Liberty Falls – The Alamo
The location is actually the rooftop of the bank. This point-of-interest is seemingly called “The Alamo” because it looks like the surviving members of the Project Janus response teams made their last stand here. The area is decorated with sandbags, razor wire, and other defenses. Treyarch says players will find everything they need at this location, so this means some sort of ammo or gear will likely be featured here.
