CoD: Warzone Purgatory Island Event Challenges – All Rewards And How To Complete

Season 6 of Warzone brings Call of Duty’s annual The Haunting event, and the festivities include the Purgatory Island event for Rebirth Island’s limited-time sandbox mode. Some of the Purgatory Island challenges are a bit tricky or confusing, so here we highlight all the rewards and explain how to earn them. This includes how to use Terriballs, fly Shipment, and raise your Torment level.

The Purgatory Island event is live from now until October 16. This event includes eight challenges exclusive to Warzone’s Purgatory LTM mode. Each challenge offers a new reward, and completing them all will unlock a final event reward: the Cloud Watching animated camo.

All event challenges and rewards can be seen below, and we include some tips to make them easier.

Dead Guy Walking – Emblem

Challenge: Reach Torment level 2

The mode doesn’t really explain what’s going on, but the Purgatory mode for Rebirth Island features Torment levels, which is indicated by the skull meter shown under your minimap. There are five gray skulls that turn white as your Torment level is increased.

You can raise this meter two ways: by eliminating other players or the NPCs found in the match, or by opening up the Scare Packages marked on the map with a yellow question mark.

It’s important to note that if you die or enter the mode’s safe zone, which are the portions of the map encased in a giant bubble, your Torment level is reset to zero.

You need to reach level two and fill two skulls in your meter.

Kingdom’s Gate – Emblem

Challenge: Spend 5 minutes outside the safe zone without killing another operator

This challenge requires you to avoid entering those safe zone bubbles on the map and without killing any of your opponents. This is best completed by just sticking to the outskirts of the map and keeping a low profile to avoid gunfights.

This mission was buggy for me, and I spent nearly 10 minutes outside the safe zone without killing anyone. I even avoided the NPCs which shouldn’t count. If you find yourself in this position as well, try entering the safe zone and popping back out. My challenge showed it was completed once I did this.

Devil’s Favorite – Calling Card

Get 50 mercenary kills using the Terriball or while in a vehicle

This challenge gives you two ways to eliminate the NPC soldiers on the map. Terriballs are the giant red-orange balls that spawn and bounce around the island. These can be hard to control and spawn so randomly that it’s best to focus on vehicle kills instead.

Mercenaries spawn all around the island, and they’re frequently being deployed from helicopters. You can use helicopters to fly around and eliminate them, but the off-road vehicles work best. Just drive around the island, and you’ll likely catch several mercenaries in the streets after they arrive.

Favored One – Calling Card

Commend 5 operators while in the safe zone

Head into one of the two areas on the map covered by the bubble-like domes. These areas are safe from NPCs and you can’t be harmed by other players while inside, either.

You can walk up to players and interact with them to “commend” them. It doesn’t really do anything but let you score some easy XP. Walk up to any five players, which can include your own teammates, and commend them for the challenge.

Inner Demons – Camo

Get five operator kills while in a vehicle

This is a beautiful animated camo, and it’s earned simply by eliminating five players (NPC mercenaries do not count) while in a vehicle. You can use the map’s helicopters, land vehicles, or jet skis.

Still Beating – Camo

Get three operator kills using the Terriball

This is another really nice animated camo, but it’s also one of the more frustrating challenges to complete. The Terriballs seem to spawn either at random or by the luck of getting them inside the Scare Packages. You can shoot or melee these giant balls to move them around the map, and they’ll knock your opponents when the ball collides with them.

To get credit for this challenge, you need to make sure the Terriballs not only knock the enemy player but also fully eliminate them. The challenge doesn’t seem to progress if you simply knock them with the ball and they are eliminated by other means.

The best method seems to be waiting for an opponent to rush a Terriball, and then you want to shoot it as they get close, thus knocking it into them. The ball will bounce, so make sure you follow it and send the ball flying back to the knocked opponent to fully eliminate them.

Supportive Gesture – Weapon Charm

Teleport 15 times using portals

This is pretty straightforward. There are several mystical ball-shaped portals on the map. Simply walk into one to teleport. You can complete this challenge in a single match. Just use them 15 times.

Flying Bullet – Weapon Charm

Pilot the flying Shipment

The Shipment multiplayer map is added to the Purgatory mode as a floating island above Rebirth Island. Weirdly enough, you can pilot the Shipment island like a helicopter. You get access to the controls from one of the top shipping containers. The challenge will complete once you’ve interacted with the control panel to drive it.

Cloud Watching – Mastery Camo

Completing all eight challenges for Purgatory Island will unlock a final mastery camo called Cloud Watching. This is another beautiful and animated camo.
