Concord’s Future Remains Unclear, Director Steps Down Into Support Role – Report

Concord’s director, Ryan Ellis, has reportedly stepped down from his role at Firewalk Studios to move over to a support one while the studio’s future remains unclear.

According to a report from Kotaku, Sony has not come to a decision on how or if it will continue with Concord yet. However, the developers within Firewalk are reportedly pessimistic that the game will come back after it was taken offline earlier this month. Some employees have reportedly been asked to explore pitches on what projects to work on next, while there are some that think that Firewalk could function as a support studio for one of Sony’s other first-party projects currently in development.

However, other employees reportedly anticipate that mass layoffs are coming, and even a complete studio closure due to Firewalk reportedly being one of the more expensive studios within PlayStation’s suite of first-party developers. Some employees have also reportedly began updating their portfolios and even left Firewalk entirely, while those who remain are waiting to see what kind of severance package they will get if Sony does proceed with layoffs.
