One Of 2025’s Best-Looking RPGs Stars The Voices Of Daredevil And Gollum

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 developer Sandfall Interactive has revealed more details on the English voice actor cast of its game, and it looks like this action-RPG has a pretty stacked roster of talent. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 follows the characters Gustave, Maelle, and their fellow Expeditioners as they embark upon a desperate quest to break a cycle of violence, and they’ll be brought to life by Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Ben Starr (Final Fantasy 16), Jennifer English (Baldur’s Gate 3), and Venom 2 director Andy Serkis. We hear he’s also pretty good in those indie Lord of the Rings movies.

Cox voices Gustave, the leader of the expedition to stop the lethal Paintress from completing her masterpiece of death. Growing up in the city of Lumière, Gustave is described as being hellbent on defeating the Paintress so that the residents of his beloved city will have a future free of her terror. In contrast, English’s character Maelle is a shy loner eager to escape the city, and she’s the youngest member of the expeditionary force. Starr’s character Verso is a dangerous stranger tracking the team’s every move, while Serkis plays the role of Renoir, a man relentlessly driven to save his family and ready to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Other notable names in the game’s cast include Kirsty Rider (Sandman) as Lune and Shala Nyx (The Old Guard) as Sciel. “Developing the characters was a multi-part process, which included charting a detailed history of Lumière and each character’s family history and thinking through how prior generations responded to the Paintress,” lead writer and voice producer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen explained in a PlayStation Blog post. “These factors all played a role in who each character is and what they are trying to overcome.”
