PS Portal Unlocks Cloud Streaming in Exciting New Beta Update for PS Plus Premium Members

Sony is taking its PS Portal handheld streaming device to new heights with a highly anticipated update that will allow PS Plus Premium members to stream PS5 games via cloud technology. This game-changing beta test marks the most significant update since the device’s release, offering an exciting glimpse into the future of portable gaming.

Cloud Streaming: The New Frontier for PS Portal

Starting within the next 24 hours, eligible PS Plus Premium members will be able to access cloud streaming for over 120 PS5 titles directly on their PS Portal. With a smooth 1080p resolution and 60 frames-per-second gameplay, this update aims to deliver an immersive and seamless gaming experience on the go. Your saved data will automatically sync with your PS5 console, making it easy to switch between devices and pick up where you left off.

Getting Started with the Beta

To participate in the beta, users in all PS Plus Premium-supported regions will find a new option under the settings menu on their PS Portal device. A “Cloud Streaming (beta)” toggle will appear, which, once activated, will introduce a new option on the home screen to access the cloud-streamed PS5 games available in the beta.

Requirements and Limitations

For an optimal experience, PS Portal users will need a stable internet connection. A minimum of 7 Mbps is required for streaming at 720p, while 13 Mbps is needed for the full 1080p experience. However, it’s important to note that the beta will only support native PS5 titles, meaning PS3 and PS4 games will not be available for cloud streaming at this time. Additionally, other PS Plus Premium features like game trials are excluded from this beta test, keeping the focus firmly on cloud streaming.

Sony’s Commitment to Innovation

Hiromi Wakai, VP of Product Management, shared the company’s excitement in a recent PlayStation Blog post: “PS Portal was an ambitious product for us, and we have been delighted by the positive response from our fans and to see that our vision has resonated with the community.” Cloud streaming is a natural next step for the device, which has already surpassed Sony’s sales expectations, proving that the concept of a portable PlayStation experience is one that resonates deeply with gamers.

The Future of Gaming in Your Hands

This update marks a major leap forward for the PS Portal, as Sony continues to refine its approach to cloud gaming and portable entertainment. If you’ve been looking for a way to experience the power of PS5 titles on the go, this beta is your chance to test out the future of gaming in the palm of your hands.
