Silo season 2, Dune: Prophecy, and more new TV this week

[[{“value”:”

If you’re still hungover from the ups and downs of election week last week — not to mention the release of the new stop-motion short for Over the Garden Wall’s 10th anniversary, and continuing to fight through Dragon Age: The Veilguard — this week has a lot of new stuff to bury yourself in.

There’s the return of Silo, which will get into what happens on the other side of the vault door (or at least what Juliette has to deal with). We get to see more of both the Dune and Creep film franchises in Dune: Prophecy and The Creep Tapes, respectively. And there’s the second batch of episodes for Arcane’s final season this Saturday.

Here’s the best new TV premieres this week.

New shows on Max

Dune: Prophecy

Genre: Sci-fi political drama
Release date: Nov. 17 at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST
Showrunner/creator: Alison Schapker
Cast: Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, and more

Set 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides (and, thus, the time period of Dune), Prophecy follows Bene Gesserit Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson) as she tries to establish the sisterhood’s reach throughout the galaxy. And it’s all going well — at least, until an interloper comes and threatens her thousand-year plan. Would that it were as simple as merely organizing a massive human breeding program to create a superbeing…

New shows on Shudder

The Creep Tapes

Genre: Creepy
Release date: Nov. 15, with two episodes
Showrunner/creator: Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass
Cast: Mark Duplass

Six episodes, six different found-footage tapes of “Peachfuzz” and his previous victims. If you like creepy — and, in particular, if you like Creep and Creep 2 — then you’ll have to check out what the hell is going on with this fuckin’ guy here.

New shows on Peacock

The Day of the Jackal

Genre: Thriller
Release date: Nov. 14
Showrunner/creator: Ronan Bennett
Cast: Eddie Redmayne, Lashana Lynch, Charles Dance, and more

He was a ruthless British assassin. She was a tireless British intelligence officer. Can I make it any more obvious?

Based on (and updating) the novel of the same name by Frederick Forsyth, The Day of the Jackal follows the game of jackal cat and mouse between the agent and the killer. Both of them like to win, and both of them refuse to give up the fight. Who will come out on top? (Well, if you read the book you already know, but don’t spoil it for the rest of us.)

New shows on Apple TV Plus

Silo season 2

Genre: Survival dystopia
Release date: Nov. 15
Showrunner/creator: Graham Yost
Cast: Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Robbins, Steve Zahn, and more

Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) is out on her own, discovering new silos and dark truths outside the walls of her own silo. She soon encounters Solo (Steve Zahn), who’s but a pair of eyes on the other side of a vault door. What happens next — well, only the founders can speak to that (and you, once you start watching the show on Friday!).
